Hello group,
I am a long time Tilley hat fan. I own a 2006 Khaki T3 and a 2016 Olive LMT6. I like the hats but to be honest I never wore them as often as I would like to.
Fast forward to today. In memory of Jimmy Buffett's passing this past fall, I have decided to do two things. First, I have started putting Heinz 57 on my cheeseburgers and second, I have decided to be more careful with sun exposure. So I decided to go back to my Tilley hats. But I decided that I wanted to get a new hat to be a "beater". Both of my hats look too nice, and I don't want to wreck them. So I recently starting shopping and apparently I live under a rock as Alex sold the company and now some Tilley hats are made in China. Even more reason for me to get a beater and save my Made in Canada models.
I plan to make another thread about my recent shopping experiences in the T3 section.
I was happy to find this forum and am looking forward to participating.

Hi there and welcome to the Tilley party! First of all, I get and agree with your instinct to value the original Canadian, made-by-Alex Tilleys over the post-2018 production. That said, I think you should wear your hats without concern. Imho, they are not collectors items or even for special occasions. These are designed to be working hats and working is what they do best. Secondly, you are also quite correct about the Sun. It wants to kill us! Our only hope in the outdoors against its malignant efforts are three words…. Sunscreen, sunglasses and Tilleys! Finally, do check out the secondary market before you spend top dollar on a modern, brand new Tilley. There are some amazing deals out there on very lightly used hats in all models and you can beat them all like rented mules. Cheers Drum

Tilley hats are so well built that if you look around on most second hand sites like Ebay, Etsy or Poshmark you can easily find a Tilley in your size that is in perfect condition. I have a few Tilley hats and I have only bought one new one from the Tilley website.
Proudly wear that hat!! It is an Adventure Hat, have an Adventure!!!!
