I’m actually asking. Has anyone seen an Airflo Tilley hat with a crown label w/o a website addy? How about an Airflow from before 2003? (MMIII)?
Post up if you have input.

Replying to my own query.
First off, I have ZERO photos of any Airflo model that has a “pre-Roman numeral” crown label, ie pre-MMIII.
Secondly, after a hard target search of the wider web, I have found various references circa 2001-2 which mention Tilley’s “new” line of nylon hats. (called “ Nylamtium” in those days), so it would seem likely that the Airflo hats, or at least prototypes, were available prior to 2003, but until we find some early Y2K catalogs, or an airflo hat with an earlier version crown label, I guess we won’t know.
For some strange reason, I thought Tilley started branching out, material wise, before 2000. Apparently not.
post up if you find anything.

I will have a look through the internets and see if I can find some early photos.

Good stuff you dug up. For my part, I’ve determined that references to “nylon hats” prior to 2003 would seem to be referring to pre-Airflo models. Basically, Tilley began making nylon, or “Nylamtium” versions of some of their cotton duck models, like the T3 and T5, prior to the release of the “Airflo” models circa 2003.

I have one of those T3 Nylamtium hats. To be honest, I don't like it much. It feels weird.

I asked ChatGPT about the Airflo and this was the answer.

Interesting. 1999 sounds plausible enough, but I’m not finding ANY Airflo (i.e. models with the 3/4 inch mesh at the crown) with crown labels that would appear to pre-date the MMIII labels, circa 2003.

I have emailed Tilley to see if they will share any catalogues they may have

So got a little more info. I've been digging through old versions of the Tilley.com website and found this. I think that is an Airflo in the thumbnail. July 17th 2004
