I picked up a t3 I believe is from the early 90’s. Its crown foam is about double the thickness of my other hats. Was it thicker in the older hats or more likely a replacement ?

I’ve handled a lot of older hats and they mostly seem rather thin… maybe 1/16th of an inch (in the U.S., at least). My guess is either a replacement piece or, perhaps, a prototype? What sort of label/tags are in your hat?

It has a smaller label with the care instructions on the right and no website. Just 1-800 Endurables.

Ah okay. Have that one figured for early 90-mid 90’s manufacture. By then the T3’s definitely all had foam inserts. I just pulled out the foam from an early and a later 90’s T3 and I would say that the foam is noticeably thicker in the newer hat. Kinda wonder whether the difference is the result of aging or actually a different thickness.
(I tried to take a photo to show the difference but it’s really not a visual difference. It’s actually more of a feel difference. Maybe it’s simply stiffer.)

Yeah this probably 2x the thickness of my newer hats so I’m guessing it’s probably a replacement of the original. I actually left it out because it makes it fit weird. Thanks.
